We have made many improvements to the XSPOC field automation software and we plan to add even more features in the next couple of months. The product is now ready for delivery to interested parties. We have completed adding support for the Delta-X (Lufkin Automation) System 60, and MPC Rod Pump Controllers. We are also adding support for controllers for ESPs, for Gas Lift, and for Injection well controllers and other devices that use MODBUS communications protocol. We also can communicate with Devices that use CDPD (Cellular Digital Packet Data). The advantage of CDPD is that it can be used in places where regular radios may not work well or to avoid having to get FCC licenses for radio frequencies. CDPD is also used in locations where large distances between wells require radio repeaters. Cost is another factor to consider. Since CDPD uses an existing cellular network it costs the same as having a cellular phone on each well. Some cellular companies offer a flat monthly rate that can make this system economic. For example, Cellular One in Midland TX charges a flat rate of $15.00 per month, while other cellular companies charge by the byte. If you have questions about CDPD or XSPOC please call Terry Treiberg with Theta Enterprises, Inc. in Bakersfield, CA. His phone number is: (661)303-1656, or you can email him at: terry@xspoc.com. Terry is in charge of developing XSPOC and will help you with any questions you have about this new program. Also, please let Terry know if you are interested in seeing a demo of XSPOC.
