RODDIAG and XDIAG Dynamometer files

RODDIAG and XDIAG allow you to use a number of dynamometer file types. You can use a Nabla file, a Delta-X file, a Theta dynamometer file, or you can digitize dynamometer card plots using a graphics tablet.

It helps to know what each of these dynamometer file formats are and what hardware or software can be used to create them.

Theta Dynamometer File Format

This is our own format for dynamometer files. This is an ASCII file whose format you can get from us. We make this format available to anyone who wants it. Sources of this type of dynamometer file format are:

  1. Delta-X dynamometers running DYNOSTAR
  2. Echometer dynamometers
  3. Case Services centralized software.
  4. The file name extension is ".DYN"

Delta-X Dynamometer File

This is actually a format developed by Amoco for their BLAP program. Delta-X enabled their dynamometer systems running their old DOS software to create this type of file. The RODDIAG and XDIAG user manuals contain direction for creating these files.

The file name extension is ".TFR".

Nabla Dynamometer File

This is the file format created by new Nabla Dynamometer systems that use laptop computers. They have a file name extension of ".DAT".

You can download files created with old Nabla dynamometer systems that use TRS-80 computers directly into XDIAG or RODDIAG using an RS232 cable. When you do this, they are saved in our format (with extension of ".DYN").
