With RODSTAR-V, you enter a "target" production and have the program automatically calculate the pumping speed, plunger size, and the optimum rod string design, pumping unit size and motor size you need to make your production. IPR integration allows you to have RODSTAR-V calculate the target production from pump intake pressure or fluid level, or to calculate the pump intake pressure from a target production or entered pumping speed. RODSTAR-V can recommend the pumping unit and motor size you need or you can select those yourself. Also, it simulates NEMA D or Ultra High Slip motors.

RODSTAR-V has a powerful "batch" run capability that allows unattended execution of many RODSTAR-V files. This allows you to make many "what if" runs with little effort. Also, RODSTAR-V can summarize the results of all runs in a customizable Excel ® spreadsheet file for easier comparison.

RODSTAR-V is the only program of its kind to automatically design optimized conventional, steel, Corod, or fiberglass rod strings for you in seconds with the wave equation.

Rod String and Pumping unit Cost Analysis

RODSTAR-V is the only program of its kind to calculate the cost of the rod string and pumping unit. You only need to enter the cost values once and you can easily update these values at any time. The rod string cost, along with the monthly electricity bill that RODSTAR-V also calculates, allows you to better compare system designs.

Compare Pumping Units

RODSTAR-V can simulate any pumping unit, including long stroke (Rotaflex) or hydraulic units. RODSTAR-V comes with a huge pumping unit data base (with over 4000 units) that includes data for:

Sophisticated IPR modeling

RODSTAR-V allows you to enter production and pressure test points (1 to 10) and can generate IPR curves using Vogel or Fetkovich methods. Also, it dynamically calculates max. production rates for water and oil.

On-Screen Dynamometer Card Comparison and Animation

After you analyze a system with RODDIAG or XDIAG (diagnostic programs developed by Theta Oilfield Services), you can read the RODDIAG or XDIAG data file with RODSTAR-V. Also, you can overlay the measured dynamometer card on the predicted dynamometer card plot. This saves time and allows you to determine unknown quantities, such as rod-tubing friction and fluid level, and to detect bad data, such as an out-of-calibration load cell that results in a shift between the predicted and measured dynamometer cards.

In addition, RODSTAR-V for Windows can "animate" its dynamometer card plots by simultaneously showing how the surface and downhole loads change in actual pumping speed. This allows you to "see" rod stretch effects, load fluctuations on the plunger, the delay between pump and surface position, and other interesting effects that cannot be seen any other way.

Incredibly User Friendly

RODSTAR-V for Windows has an interface that is very easy to use. It contains expert context sensitive help for every input field. RODSTAR-V uses a unique visual help system that includes drawings (for pumping unit dimensions, etc. Also, RODSTAR-V comes with an artificial lift glossary with definitions for hundreds of terms. It displays recommendations or warnings to help you avoid mistakes or to improve system design and with RODSTAR-V for Windows you can enter everything yourself, or have the program do most of the hard work for you.

Custom Setup

RODSTAR-V for Windows allows you to select to use English, SI (Metric), or Canadian (mix of English and Metric) units of measure. You can customize the program by entering your company name, electricity cost, and custom rod grades and measured pumping unit dimensions to avoid having to type them in for each new case. You can also enter rod grade information for any steel sucker rod types that are not already in the program's database.

Also, you can customize the summary spreadsheet file format, enter measured pumping unit dimensions, customize the pumping unit list to show only the units you have, or to enter unusual rod grades including the method of stress analysis you want to use for each custom rod grade.

E-Mail a Case

RODSTAR-V for Windows allows you to e-mail a case file directly from within RODSTAR-V to Theta Oilfield Services, Inc. for support.

This is especially convenient for discussion of special conditions that you might encounter and is available to all customers that continue to maintain their annual Technical Support Agreement.

Summary Report

RODSTAR-V for Windows has an enhanced Summary Report which displays the same as the output will look when printed.

The report includes additional options for sizing and multiple page display.

Visual Input

RODSTAR-V for Windows has a Visual Input window with a representation of the Rod Pumping System. Hotspots are available on the display which can be clicked to navigate directely to the relevant page or field for input.

This visual input allows you to simply point to the part of the system you want to modify and select which variable to change. Then you can rerun the report and you immediately see the effects of the change.

No Per-Run Charges

RODSTAR-V for Windows is available for a one-time licensing fee. A monthly lease-purchase option is also available.
