Frequently Asked Questions

I get the message "Your sentinel does not appear to be connected."

Solution

Theta Enterprises products require a Sentinel (also called a bitlock or dongle) for license authorization.

For Network Editions of our products (ThetaLM or NetSentinel Editions) the Sentinel is attached to the parallel port network server where the network license manager software is loaded.

For the Standalone Edition of our products (SuperPro Edition), the Sentinel is attached to the parallel port on the individual PC where the product is installed.

For Windows to recognize the existence of a Sentinel, there are drivers that must be installed on the machine that has the Sentinel attached.

Install the latest Sentinel Driver software from our Download Page. If you are running Windows XP, be sure to download the version that supports all of the operating systems.

Note to ThetaLM Network Edition users for Windows 2000 and XP:
If you are getting a Error -9 or a message that the license server cannot be found, then check out the FAQ regarding the need for a SENTINEL.INI file to specify the location of the license server.

Toshiba Laptop Issue:
Toshiba Laptop gives "Sentinel not connected" message even though the sentinel works on other PC's.
Toshiba laptops, especially newer ones, have the Bios Printer default set to "not in use". Printers will work, but not Sentinels.

If the above suggestions do not fix the problem, please contact a Theta Representative.
